HSIEH Hong-Da studied under Lee Shih-Chiao early in his career. Later, Hsieh went to New York and was introduced to Hyperrealism. For over a decade, Hsieh has focused on delicately painting the trees and streams, using his paintbrush to capture the ever-changing beauty of Taiwan’s landscape. In this painting, “The Glittering Joy of Flowing Water (Shiding Creek)”, small pebbles can be seen in the bottom of the stream. Viewers can also see aged moss and water plants. At first glance, there is nothing special to the painting, but if we settle down and observe the painting more carefully, we will discover that the scene underwater resembles a world full of changes, and full of vibrancy. Hsieh’s brushstrokes guide us to discover the inner tranquility within ourselves.
